Forget about Nokia… Finland is the land of lakes, cinnamon buns and trailblazing design.
Finland, the land of 190,000 lakes, attracts both nature-lovers and cultural travelers to its shores. In the capital of Helsinki, you’ll find the impressive Senate Square with its enormous cathedral. Furthermore, you can’t miss Finlandia Concert Hall, Sibelius Memorial and Temppeliaukio Church. Visit the Design Museum Arabia to learn all about Finnish trailblazing designs in porcelain, ceramics, and glassworks. Travel along the picturesque coast to explore the former capital Turku and farther for the seaport of Kotka.
Finland is just a short ferry ride away from the Baltic States, so it’s a perfect add-on to your Estonia or Baltic tour. We can even visit farther inland to Hämeenlinna, a lakeside town with a medieval castle, and to Savonlinna, especially for the Opera Festival.
The eastern province of Karelia is the mythical birthplace of Kalevala, Finland’s 19th-century national epic. It’s also home to the famous karjalanpiirakka, Karelian rice pies, and kalakukko, pies stuffed with fish. As a result, Karelia is often associated with essential Finnish traditions. Other Finnish delights include grillimakkara sausages, ruisleipä rye bread, and korvapuusti cinnamon buns.
Though we’re based in the Baltic States, we are still quite familiar with the south of Finland and with Helsinki especially. You can choose from one of our pre-packaged tours, such as the Grand Tour, or ask us to design an itinerary just for you!
