Across the Gauja River in the village of Turaida, you can find an amazing open-air stone art exposition, Lutheran church, and ruins of the Turaida Castle.
In Turaida’s Livonian graveyard, you can find the tomb of Maija, the legendary “Rose of Turaida” – the legend about a strong love and faith.
At Gutmanis Cave, situated on the banks of the Gauja River, you can see the biggest and deepest cave in the whole Baltic region.
The site has given rise to many stories and legends. Take the opportunity to admire some of the cave carvings that were left there by travelers 3-4 centuries ago.
Next stop in a nice town of Cesis. You can go to see another castle or just sit a nice coffee shop on the main square of Cesis.
