Day 1

Arrival and Preparation

Arrive in Vilnius and welcome meeting at the hotel with a tour guide.

 

Day 2.

Vilnius - Trakai Insular Castle - Kaunas

After breakfast, a guided tour of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania for more than 600 years. You will see highlights of Vilnius Old Town: the Cathedral Square, St.Ann Church, the Gate of Dawn, Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, Town Hall Square and Vilnius University (founded in 1579). Walking in the medieval Jewish Quarter of Vilnius, once called the Lithuanian Jerusalem – the history and the sad fate of the Great Vilna Synagogue, the personality of the Gaon of Vilna. The Small and the Large Ghettos of the period of WWII.

We continue with an afternoon trip to Trakai, the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Visit the castle built on a small island on Lake Galvė. Karaite museum and the story of this small ethnic group, brought from the Crimea peninsula on the Black Sea over 600 years ago. 

Next is cycling through picturesque countryside on gentle hills.  There are three options of cycling tours in Trakai: 16 km  Around Akmena Lake, 19 km Around Skaistis Lake, 32 km to Old Trakai. 

Transfer by bus to Kaunas. (cycling ~30 km, by coach ~110 km)

Day 3

Kaunas - Vente Horn - Nida

 (cycling ~35 km, by coach ~200 km, by boat ~14 km)

Morning transfer along the Nemunas River to the coast. Cycling 25 km from Raudone Castle to Jurbarkas.
En route, we will pass Veliuona mound hill and the impressive 16th- 17thC castles of Raudonė and Panemunė.
In the afternoon, we will cycle to Ventė Horn. Visit a bird observatory and the 19thC lighthouse, which is 100 years old.
Take a boat across the Curonian Lagoon to Nida en-route, enjoying the beautiful view of the Curonian Spit dunes, which separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon. Arrive in Nida.

Day 4

Curonian Spit & the Hill of Witches

(cycling ~50 km)

Sightseeing around Nida, one of the most beautiful resorts in Lithuania. Exploring the Amber Gallery and a summer house of the famous German writer Thomas Mann. 

We will continue cycling on the Seaside Cycle 50 km Route along the Curonian Spit to Klaipėda. 

En route stop at the “Dead” dunes and colony of grey herons and cormorants, walk on the Hill of Witches, which houses a hundred of folksy wooden sculptures, illustrating Lithuanian legends—cycling to Smiltynė to take a ferry to the Old Town of Klaipėda, the chief seaport of Lithuania.

Day 5

Klaipeda - Palanga Resort - Hill of Crosses- Riga

(cycling ~25 km, by coach ~300 km)

Early morning ride to Palanga through the Seaside Regional Park, a former Russian military training area. Palanga, the most prominent Lithuanian seaside resort, visit Botanical Garden and the Amber Museum in the Palace of Count Tyszkiewicz, with over 25000 pieces of amber and 15000 insects on display. 

Afternoon drive to Riga, the capital of Latvia. En-route stop at the Hill of Crosses, the unforgettable sight of thousands of crosses on two small hills. 

Day 6

Riga - Gauja National Park– Sigulda

(cycling ~40 km, by coach ~50 km)

After breakfast, we will go for a guided tour of Riga. It will include medieval Riga castle, St.Peter’s Church, Dome Cathedral, and the Old Guild Houses. We will discover past and present of the Jewish community in Maskvas Vorschtadt and beautiful Latvian synagogue – Peitavas shul. 

Visit Gauja National Park, en route, enjoy spectacular views of Gauja River valley with Gutmana Cave, explore the ruins of the 13thC Crusaders Castle in Sigulda, visit Turaida Castle and the oldest Latvian Church, Krimulda. Visit the Latvian bicycle museum.

Here we start cycling 20 km through the National Park from Sigulda to Ligatne. Drive to Haapsalu with a stop in Pärnu, the Estonian “Summer Capital.” 

Day 7

Parnu - Soomaa - Parnu

(cycling ~35 km, by coach ~50 km)

Bike ride to Soomaa national park will take about an hour and a half. And you find yourself in the world of forests, bogs, and beautiful small settlements. 

You will start from Sindi or some closer villages and will have about 35 km pedaling. On the way, you will enjoy a lot of old settlements and the beauty of the Parnu river.

At the National Park, you will walk the Soomaa Bog trail. 

When we finish the trail, the bus will transfer us back to Parnu for an overnight.

Day 8

Pärnu - Haapsalu

 (cycling ~30 km, by coach ~150 km)

Travel on picturesque roads along the Baltic Sea Coast. Visit numerous small coastal villages and the Matsalu Bay. 

Here we invite you to pedal from Pardi to Haapsalu for about 35 km. 

Visit Haapsalu famous for its Bishop’s Castle, healing mud baths and the most extended railway station in Estonia built to accommodate the arrival of the Russian royal family’s train in the 19thC.

Day 9

Hiiumaa Island and Kassari

(cycling ~55 km, by coach ~20 km)

We take a transfer to Rohuküla to catch a ferry to the beautiful Estonian island of Hiiumaa. Known as a nature lovers’ paradise, enjoy the ride across the island’s wild beauty before crossing a road bridge onto Kassari. 

This tiny area was a separate island until a land bridge connected it in the 18th C. In keeping with local tradition, add your stone to the tip of Saare Trip before cycling back to the ferry.

Day 10

Haapsalu - Coastal Cliffs & Waterfall - Tallinn

(cycling ~45 km, by coach ~130 km)

Morning transfer outside the city, where the cycling begins along the Baltic Coast. A further coach transfer to Tallinn stopping en route in Keila-Joa to explore the waterfall and the highest coastal cliffs in Estonia.

Arrive in Tallinn, check-in at the hotel, and free time in the Old Town. 

Day 11

Tallinn the end of the journey

Today we’ll immerse ourselves into Tallinn, taking in the Old Town, 15th-century Town Hall, and fortifications with 27 iconic towers. We’ll pay a visit to Toompea Castle, the seat of the government, as well as Tallinn Protestant Cathedral, for panoramic views over the old city. 

Next, we will continue a walking tour, including the Dominican Monastery, Alexander Nevski Orthodox Church, Kiek in de Kok defensive tower, Kadriorg Park and Palace, the Rusalka Monument, and Pirita Olympic village.
