Departure to Kaunas from your hotel. Kaunas City tour starts at the confluence of two biggest Lithuanian rivers, where Kaunas Castle once was laid out.
From here you will walk to the Old Town to see its most famous landmarks. Enjoy an impressive Kaunas Cathedral church, and continue to pagan god Perkūnas (Thunder) house that reminds about Hansa community merchants. Pass by a beautiful Town Hall that locals call “a white swan”, as the building with a tower reminds of this noble bird.
Continue walking through the main street of the Old Town – Vilnius street towards A. Mapu and L. Zamenhof streets, which testify about a Jewish presence in Kaunas before the WWII.
We will stop for a short visit to the garden of the former Presidential palace. Kaunas city became the capital of Lithuania after WWI when Vilnius and its district were occupied by the Polish Army.
