Tour Plan

Day 1 - Part 1 Radun - Hometown of the Chafetz Chavim
Day 1 - Part 2 The Mother of Yeshivas in Volozhyn
Day 1 - Part 1

Radun - Hometown of the Chafetz Chavim

We start the day off with a morning drive to see the famous yeshivas that existed here before the Holocaust. See Radun, a small town, where Chafetz Chayim founded the Radin Yeshiva. It attracted students from all over Europe, and at its peak, it had over 300 students. Today the building is used as a cultural center for the town and you can go inside to see it.

After a short drive in the town, we will go to the Jewish cemetery, located just outside the border of the town. Will see the matzevah of Chafetz Chayim and the memorial to the local Jews murdered during WWII.

Day 1 - Part 2

The Mother of Yeshivas in Volozhyn

Later on, we will visit Volozhyn, another Belarussian town and see the renowned yeshiva established in 1803 by Rav Hayim Volozhiner, a disciple of the Vilna Gaon. A fire swept Volozhyn in the middle of the 19th c., but the “mother of yeshivas” was untouched.

After learning about the yeshiva’s fascinating history, we will take a key from the town authorities and let you inside.

The tour ends with a trip to the Jewish Cemetery where we will pay a tribute and pray at the grave of Rav Hayim Volozhiner.
