Tour Plan

Day 1. Arrival to Tallinn
Day 2. Tallinn city tour
Day 3. Part 1 - Outside the city
Day 3. Part 2 - Lahemaa National Park
Day 4. Departure home
Day 1.

Arrival to Tallinn

The best way to get to Tallinn is through its international airport. You can take a taxi from the airport, it is absolutely safe and simple. At the same time, if you are a fan of the “full service” travel concept, we will take care of your transfers as well.

Get lost in Tallinn. This is what we suggest on the day of your arrival. I do not mean, that you have to get confused in the old city or on the tram station. I mean, explore the central part of Tallinn on your own. Find your first experiences and tastes. On the next day, you will have what to tell or to ask your guide.

Day 2.

Tallinn city tour

Today, we will explore the Old Town with its City Hall Square, Town fortifications, and city walls dating back to 15 century. The Toompea Castle hill with Alexander Nevski Russian Orthodox Cathedral in the center. The famous “Kiek in de Kok” tower houses a museum today, other defensive towers have galleries or coffee places in them.

We will walk to the central square to get fascinated by its authenticity and atmosphere. I will see the oldest pharmacy and will sneak to the baker’s street. Nex is an interesting walk in between the guilds’ houses. After passing the sea gate will pay the last tribute to the casualties of the “Estonia” ferry.

We will visit the famous Field of the Songs – ones the place of meetings of a local choir and today the spot of the International Choir Festival. Also, a pride of Eesti – the cradle of the Independence movement. Read an article about the singing revolution on our blog.

Continue to the Kadriorg Park, the beautiful park on the seashore once bought for the Tzar Peter the Great, who built a Palace as a gift to his wife Kathrine. Today it is a complex of numerous museums, amusements, and the Presidential Palace.

After that, we will proceed to Pirita neighborhood where one can see the Olympic village, and ruins of the Convent of St. Bridget.

Day 3.

Part 1 - Outside the city

Today we tour to Lahemaa National Park. The heart and soul of Lahemaa is the Palmse manor estate. We will visit this majestic and beautifully restored baroque style mansion complex containing the main house, distillery, and different types of the auxiliary buildings.  There is a large boating pond, fragrant gardens, and a network of riding trails that created a relaxing atmosphere.

Not far from Palmse located the Sagadi manor estate, which is now also home to the national forestry museum. You will have a tour in the Sagadi manor park.

Next, we will follow a narrow winding road leading through the pine forest to the small coastal village of Altja.  It is a typical seaside village that once was like a family fishing farm. You can still see the original fishing huts used to store and maintain fishing nets and small boats.

We have written an article about the visit to Estonian island Saaremaa

Day 3.

Part 2 - Lahemaa National Park

Next on in Lahemaa National Park is the coastal village of Käsmu. Many large sailing and steamships were built here. Aarne Vaik, a retired seaman, and shipbuilder, is constantly expanding his private maritime museum to preserve the history of this village. We will see his unique collection of hand-built boats, model ships, antique shipbuilding tools, fishing gear and much more.

A special experience is a visit to Jägala juga, the largest waterfall in Estonia.

During the warmer seasons, you can stretch your legs with a nice walk in Viru bog. This area has been made accessible with a specially constructed boardwalk, giving visitors an up close and rare view of nature in this wetland.

Lahemaa National Park offers visitors a deep perspective of rural life in northern Estonia through the ages. Captivating stories present the history of this area in a most Estonian way. The fresh country air and the picturesque scenery of this diverse region make for an unforgettable day trip out of the busy city.

Day 4.

Departure home
